Does this not make you smile?!
So I have decided to try a little something fun!! You see I am a self proclaimed "reader". I love to read and the stories I love to read the most are personal ones. Maybe it is the nurse in me, but I love to know people and understand them. Some people are simply fantastic writers and the words that they write really make me smile and push harder everyday. I, myself, am a writer. I am much better at verbalizing my thoughts in writing than speaking to someone, unless I know them really well. So writing has become my little friend through the years. My way of breaking past my social awkwardness and letting people know me. I know when it comes to strangers or people I do not know well I put up a rather large wall which is truly not always intentional, but due to my past and events in my past I have grown the wall as a way of protecting myself. So most of the time I do not even think about it. It just stands around me and looks intimidating. LOL!! I was able to find a way to break past it though and let people in. That has been through my writing. Trust me I have lots of constant thoughts running through my head and they need to come out. Some are deep thoughts and some are just humorous ones.
So every Friday I have decided I will be highlighting a blog that I enjoy following because it is so important to appreciate others thoughts too and read about the other amazing people out there in our world. Now most of these blogs will be runners blogs, but most of them talk about a lot more than just running. They talk about life, emotions, and journeys. I am thinking I will even try to get an interview with some of them via email which I will post on my blog because, like I said, I love to understand people and know them. Life is full of incredible people, so why not learn a little from all of them.
The first blog I will be highlighting is one that gave me a big smile today when I read it. It is a blog called (so not) Super Runner Mom by a mom of 3 from Washington State. In fact a lot of the moms whose blogs I follow are from that direction. I believe Oregon and Washington are some of the top running states, at least in my mind although I have never visited either. I will say the old grunge/Nirvana/Foo Fighter/coffee house/artsy side of me would love to visit Seattle someday soon. Anyways, back to the blog. For those of you who know me well when I mention the top reasons I instantly fell in love with the (so not) Super Runner Mom blog you will understand:
1. I read her little bio first and the first thing that I saw was "I am so not a Super Mom" and she went on to state she works full-time outside of the house and does not know much about scrap booking. I loved this because it reminded me of, well, me. I know about scrap booking and did partake in it at one time, but then life got busy. I do still have a scrapbook with the babies I have helped deliver through the years though. I am not a Super Mom either though in many aspects, but I am a good mom.
2. I went on to read a post which was 25 things about her and 13 was "I have a very low tolerance for snobbiness and pretentious people". Ding ding ding!! She won my heart right there. I like people to just be laid back. Around me there is no need to put on bells and whistles. My favorite people are the ones who are kind hearted, honest, straight forward, and able to kick back and relax with me. Heck, I am the mom who had a wine night in my driveway. LOL!! Can not get more laid back than that, right? A bunch of moms sitting in the driveway drinking wine, watching the fire pit, chatting, and listening to music. That is perfection to me. I love people to be comfortable and feel they are able to just "be". I do not like a bunch of glitz and glimmer. In fact fancy events are tough for me because I feel out of my element. I want to say "Lets put on the music people and let our hair down".
3. When you read her blog it has this great funny/sarcastic edge to it I love. She is honest in her writing and she writes it in a way that is just laid back and funny. Maybe that goes with that Type B personality she states she has. In fact that is why I have chosen her blog to highlight first because it was the one today that just made me giggle as she talked about Footloose.........the new versus the old.
So if you are not already a follower or are simply looking for a blog that will make you laugh then definitely check out http://superrunnermom.blogspot.com/
On a side note. I am going to keep the cape contest up until Wednesday next week. If no one else tries out for it I can officially announce Angie may be the winner next Wednesday. Thanks for posting all that you did Angie because you have ROCKED my day. I was sitting here thinking no one would bite at this fun opportunity, but when I saw you did.............well you made my day. Here is to hoping your son can get that most awesome cape he wants because I am thinking he could seriously fly in it.
