Fashion Rhymes With.........

Passion!!  It is true, I have always had a passion for the fashion world.  This journey started back in my teen years.  I remember I was one of the first kids at my school to own Birkenstocks and I had one person, a jock guy, make fun of me for wearing "Jesus shoes".   My style has always been my style.  I would say it has always been a mix of bohemian meets rave girl meets funkadelic meets retro.  In my 20's I was obsessed with The Cranberries and No Doubt.  In my mind Gwen Stefani and Dolores O'Riordan could do no wrong when it came to fashion.  In fact I loved them so much I even dyed my short pixie style hair platinum blond for awhile to match Dolores.  I lived in my green Doc Martens or steel-toed army boots, my black beret, ripped jean shorts, and my sticker star.  You are saying sticker star?  Yeah. I loved buying those little sticker stars, that you put on a kids paper if they do well at school, and I would wear one up close to the outside of my eye on my cheek.  It was fun and better than a tattoo because I could take it off.  In fact for my pediatric rotation in nursing school my professor let me wear the star because the kids loved it.  The eternal spirit of a child will always exist within my soul.  When it comes to fashion I have never been afraid to have fun.  That being said I am also very picky!!  In fact so picky that I often hum and ho over making decisions on what to buy.  The good side of being this way is that when I love something I LOVE IT!!  When I am not a fan of something I will be honest.  For instance I am not a big jewelry fan.  I like simple jewelry that speaks to my bohemian side or classic pieces, think Audrey Hepburn.  Recently, the ladies who ran Hood to Coast for Nuun spoke of Endorphin Warrior and when I saw their gorgeous bracelets I had to check them out.  I fell in love with one bracelet that really spoke to my heart and my spiritual side, so I bought it.  I do not regret it either!!  It is a beautiful bracelet and a great reminder for me while I am out there on the road.  This company also processed and shipped my bracelet very quickly.  Simply an impressive company!!

Then there is my obsession with all things Lululemon.  Yes, they have pricey gear.  However, I love that they are a Canadian company and that their clothing lasts.  My favorite piece from them are their Dart and Dash short.  Right now they are in the "We Made Too Much" section too, so an extra bonus for me!!  These are the best running shorts I have worn.  They do not ride up.  I have had no chafing.  I can wear my thigh sleeve, which I still have to wear for training, and it remains comfy.  Plus, as an extra bonus I can wear another one of my favorites over top of them.  That favorite would be my Team Sparkle skirt of choice.  I love the Team Sparkle skirts because they give me that little bit of glitter I love, kind of like my sticker star did back in the day.

Another recent favorite to add to the sparkle is my Sparkly Soul headband.  I have worn that thing almost every day since I got it.  I guess I really need to buy more of them.  While growing my hair out to donate I tend to be a ponytail girl, so it is nice having that little bit of sparkle added to my hair.  Plus the headband seriously stay in place.  This headband really pleased my naturally picky spirit!!  Must get more!!

My list could go on and on when it comes to the running gear I love.   I will save my obsession with Oiselle, Brooks Raveena shoes, CEP socks, and my Soleus watch for another day.  Yep, I am a picky girl!!  However, if a piece of clothing or gear wins my heart then it is stuck with me for a long time.

So what are some of your favorite pieces?  Companies you stick to for gear?  Things you love?  Do share because I am always looking for more favorites to add to the list.

  1. I love some of the same ones as you! Who doesn't love Lululemon? They are pricey but have some cute stuff. I love CEP and I love Nike too. I love to run in my tempo shorts!

  2. Last week I ordered the Endorphin bracelet that says "Unbreakable" (I gutted my way through a serious skiing injury and am now faster and stronger than I was before.) The word is the perfect thing to remind me what I'm made of!

Favorite post-workout gear? Oiselle t-shirts. They are so, so, so soft and have great running themes. I kind of live in mine!
